Frequently Asked Questions about the library catalog
Please contact CLPL by phone (815.459.1687) or by email (ihaveaquestion@clpl.org) if you have questions that are not answered in the following list:

Question 1:
Will the library be open while data from Vernon Area PL is being added to the catalog?

Answer: Yes! CLPL will be open (except for Labor Day), and you’ll be able to check out materials. The process of adding data will begin at close of day on Thursday, Aug. 28, and continues through Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Question 2:
How will my checkouts be affected?

Answer: You’ll be able to check out materials at the Circulation Desk and normal loan periods will apply. We will not be able to check anything back in until Sept. 3. Materials returned Aug. 29-Sept. 2 will be checked in as if they were returned on Sept. 3.

Question 3:
Is there anything I won’t be able to do?

Answer: During the transition period (Aug. 29-Sept. 2), we will be able to use the catalog, but with limited functionality. Item availability will not be accurate after close of day on Aug. 27, and features such as My Account, renewals, and placing or maintaining holds won’t be available. Access to some electronic resources won’t be possible.

Question 4:
What about my holds?

Answer: Any holds you currently have will remain, and you will not lose your place in the holds queue during the transition period. You will not be able to place new holds, or suspend, unsuspend, or cancel existing holds until Sept. 3.

Question 5:
Will I be able to renew my materials?

Answer: Renewals will not be available between Aug. 29-Sept. 2.

Question 6:
What about eBooks and other online resources? Can I still use them?

Answer: Yes, most of our online resources will be available!

    • You will be able to register for programs in the CLPL Calendar.
    • eBooks, eAudiobooks, and digital magazines will be available through Libby (Overdrive/North Suburban Digital Consortium) and eRead Illinois (Boundless).
